There are so many factors at play here, including how close to the mark the
colour is without a custom profile to where you need it to be, and certainly
how good the camera profiling app is. My experience with ProfileMaker Pro
through 4.1.1 hasn't been great, but if you create the profile and use it
under only studio conditions you might see an improvement over doing
nothing. For me, shadow posterization with more than one model of digital
SLR camera, even shooting the target with the same level of care that the
that the ColorEyes manual suggests, put the current ProfileMaker Pro digital
camera profiler out of the running, so it wouldn't surprise me if you see
the same there.

If your workflow is built around Photoshop, then assigning a custom camera
profile and converting to your preferred working space can actually be
pretty painless. It can be done through an Action, made part of larger
Actions you may already be using, be incorporated into batch processing
runs, scripted, etc, etc. In fact, given that only Nikon digital SLR cameras
with the latest firmware and set to Color Mode II actually embed a profile
into the JPEG/TIFF in the camera, profile assignment will need to happen in
many workflows anyway as a matter of course (though I can't speak about
yours of course)
In fact, since I don't know all the details of your workflow, I'm obviously
not in a position to make a blanket statement that camera profiling WILL be
a benefit and that getting the profile into your workflow WILL be a snap.
But, it may be easier and more beneficial than you think.
Or not!
