Any suggestions??
We scan a lot of 10x8 neg on a Scanview F10 - they're made in Denmark, so
you shouldn't have too many problems finding one.
The anti-newton glass rarely gives problems with Newton's rings. However, we
do mount stuff in film cleaner or thin oil on the flatbed when necessary.
We have magnetic mounts for 5x4. They never manufactured these for 10x8, but
they would be able to make them to order. However, I would prefer liquid
mounting on glass, as a magnetic mount would never hold a negative of this
size and be able to keep it flat.
The only problem you'll get is with banding if your F10 uses the 1st
generation Kodak CCD. This can be a real problem with large format negative
as you get to see shadows of the CCD circuits in vivid reds and blues (sky
and sunset usually).
