I am working under very controlled conditions in a museum studio, and have
found a solution that works very well with our Betterlight Super8k-2, Imacon
Flexframe 4040 and Nikon D1x. Upon testing several different camera
profiling pacakges, we purchased inCamera 3.1 by Pictographics. It still
took a bit of patience to understand and get it to cooperate fully, but the
results are consistent and accurate.
-We use standard Macbeth 24 patch targets to generate the profiles.
-It is critical to have the target evenly lit (we use the little 2"x3"
versions for 3D work).
-I've had best results if the capture of the target is 3-6mb at 16bit RGB.
-It is also critical to have the same light hitting your target that is
illuminating your scene/subject, mixed lighting still gives me trouble.
I'm content with the results I'm getting now, but surely look forward to
better/faster/simpler solutions in the future.
