Hi David
I recently calibrated my mac to 2.2 after long believing 1.8 was the way to
go and I'll tell you the result. It's made no difference to my colour
managed work flow at all, as most of the working spaces are 2.2 anyway.
However it has made a huge difference to my non CM work flow, such as my web
browsers and photo station etc.. they now match my CM apps. With 1.8 they
were much lighter.
I think technically 1.8 still has a better tonal range, however as Adobe 98
is 2.2, which I'd assume most people are using as their work space ? the
benefits of gamma 1.8 never come in to our CM work flow.
Then I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will point out exactly where and
how !
