Tom, you made a very good point, here.
As a pro photographer, I'm worried about that time-issue as well.
I'm not looking for the analog vs digi-discussion, but the "danger"
of digi is to spend more time than analog, for a less good result.
The time used to match the picture in Photoshop, (incl. choice,
RAW-conversions, 16-bit adjustements, color adjustements) well,
trying to get the very best out of a DSLR capture, is comparable to
set up even a 4/5'-view camera.
Notice, than in digi, for beeing accurate one has to consider the
extrawork too: Monitor profiling, preparing digital data's for prints
(softproofs), as they have to be mastered for the printer (digilab,
as lambda), down-/upsampling, creating contact sheets for the client,
computer set up, back-ups, etc.
This is not against digi, but leads rather to the question:
Which category of analog camera, which shooting "philosophy" or range
is replaced with the digi? How comfortable and fast is the workflow,
with 80 pictures? Spending about 1/2 h on each pict, means to spend 4
days (!!) on post processing.
That said, I can't underline enough the importance of a well
"embedded" (soft/hardware) and mastered (user) digi workflow. Any
digicam not relating to that, is chanceless, beside its technical
quality (pixels, etc).
