I don't believe that more renderings combined with profiles
will help in any way. Much of the confusion and difficulty in
the current state of color management is due to the unfortunate
combining of device characterization and intent (including
the oxymoron "single ended gamut mapping") by the ICC profile
standard. Now that the computation and algorithmic capabilities
have advanced sufficiently, I believe it would be much better
if characterization was distinctly separated from intent. Because
intent is the subject of art, environment and whim, there is
endless scope for different personal choices. Characterization doesn't
need this. There is generally an exact, measurable definitions of the
colorimetric characterization of a device.
