Blueish Spyder Filter

Anyone,

I didn't want to keep bugging the tech support guys at Colorvision so I thought I'd ask the question here. Why would a Spyder have a blueish filter on it's LCD baffle? Colorvision says it's to filter infrared. Does an LCD display generate more infrared than a CRT? How would infrared effect it's readings?
