From what everyone has said, I think it's time to replace the 6 year old
Mitsubishi 91. I will be preparing digital camera images exclusively, and I
will be sending them to printers who most likely don't understand color
management. I get feedback such as "it's too gray - you fix it." (My own
inkjet, Giclee, no problem - large run, offset, are living hell).
What's the best solution to my problem with $500 to spend:
LaCie
Sony
NEC/Mitsubishi
LaCie Blue 19 inch CRT
I would certainly like to calibrate for printers that have that knowledge,
but I will also have to wing it with those who don't. My biggest business
is with the 'no get profile' printer.
I've received excellent feedback from this group, and find it much more
helpful than wandering through reviews that include a lot of specs but don't
give me an understanding of what going to be best for my situation. If I had
2K I'd spring for the Artisan, but I don't. The reviews I've looked at are
leaving me more baffled (unlike this group) than confident in where I should
go on the expenditure of $500.
- Do you have specific models that you'd recommend (as I see the LaCie Blue
19" recommended). (My searching through reviews of "Sony" leave me lost in
space.)
- Given my situation, should I put most of the money into the monitor, or
should I split it between monitor & calibration system? (Will the
calibration system be part of the solution even with printers who don't get
profiles?)
Eternal gratitude - Sharon
