But that profile is only applied if an application chooses to, so a
calibration application can choose not to. The video card curves associated with the
profile can also be flashed to linear by the profiling application, so that they
are not part of the initial process (though the new ones will be in effect at
the time the screen is measured for the actual profile). So with a properly
designed OS X monitor calibration application, the previously chosen monitor
profile will have no effect on the results.
