I have had the same problem as you have experienced and have been
talking with the Australian importers for Gretag Macbeth to solve
it. It would appear that the problem has something to do with the
internal dongle and Profile Maker . We have used two Spectro's one with
internal and one with external dongle. The external dongle worked fine
the internal gave the same problems that you saw. Running my
Spectro(internal dongle) with the external dongle also worked fine.
The workaround at the moment is to use Measure tool rather than Profile
Maker to do your measurements and save the data and take it into
Profile Maker to create your profile
try this let me know how it works out and what response you get from
