Would not the use of the display profile be counter-logical, as only
local poorly built images would display as intended, leaving the vast
majority of images to display incorrectly. It seems counter to the
current standards used for web content.
Am I wrong... I have tried to understand correctly --not wanting to
waste people's time, or embarrass myself.
Well, maybe I'm embarrassing myself, but I thought ColorSync would be a
process including several steps. I.e. your display profile only
corrects the individual *deviations* of your specific display from some
virtual neutral state, something the supplier of the image cannot
possibly know. So she tries to to bring her image as close as possible
to this "neutral state", which sRGB is supposed to be, and consequently
leaves it untagged, as it's now "neutral". You would have to display it
with the help of your display profile, correcting any of your display
specific aberrations.
Not sure that's correct, but that's how I understood the whole thing.
Bye
Uli
