R: Nikon LS-5000 scanner?

I owned the LS-4000 and last week I sold it and bought the LS-5000.

Waiting for the Silverfast version, I'm using the NikonScan 4.01 and the
hardware-speed of this new scanner is very very good (about 18 seconds to
scan at 4000 dpi and 16 bit). If you use ROC or GEM scanning at 4000 dpi and
16 bit you'll need a faaaast computer, because after 18 seconds of
hardware-scanning, begins the software-elaboration that of course depends
from the power of the processor.

For example enabling ICE4 full (ICE, ROC, GEM, DEE) the speed decrease
dramatically (P4 2000 1 Giga ram): about 4 minutes to elaborate the data.

Best regards

Marco Passanisi

Oggetto: Nikon LS-5000 scanner?

Anyone laid their hands on this new scanner or had a chance to put it
through its pace?
