Thanks to those who responded. I have been puzzled by the over
saturation of yellows in my images in Photoshop 6 and 7 but I think I've
figured out what is wrong. It appears that the profiles created by
Colorvision Optical do not load properly in Photoshop 6 or 7. I made
sure that Adobe Gamma was not in my Startup folder. The profile was
properly set as the default monitor profile. My Color Settings were also
correct. There was a big shift in saturation when I soft proof to my
monitor RBG profile. I thought it was a bad profile at first but when I
look at the Photodisc test image using Internet Explorer it looks great.
As soon as I open the same Photodisc test image in PS all the yellows
and skin tones get oversaturated and there is a distinct yellow cast. (I
assigned sRGB profile and converted the file to Adobe RBG 1998)
I used Adobe Gamma to resave the profile created by Optical and it seems
to have corrected the problems. The Photodisc image now looks the same
in PS and in other programs. The over saturated yellows and color cast
is gone.
I am using PC running Windows XP and a G4 running OS X and PS 7. The
profiles were created by Optical v.3.7
Has anyone else had the same problems with Optical profiles?
