How do I do this?
I'm not that much of a Windows jockey, but here is one way to load ramps
into the VLUTs (I don't know how to "keep them there"). I'm sure there are
better ways to do this -- you ask someone who is more familiar with color
management on Windows.
Start with an ICC profile that has a ramp 'vcgt' tag. I can provide you one
if you need it.
Place this profile in:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\COLOR\
Set this profile as the default:
Control Panel
Appearance and Themes
Display
Settings
Advanced
Color Management
Add...
(select the ramp profile)
Set As Default
Then use the Adobe Gamma Loader to load the VLUTs:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader
My tests have shown that Adobe Gamma Loader only works if the 'vcgt' tag
contains a "table" type of 'vcgt' tag. It does not appear to work with a
"formula" type of 'vcgt' tag. Does anyone else have any experience with
this?
Again, there is probably a MUCH easier way to do this (anyone?).
