Call me crazy, but I usually drag profiles into

If we had a tool specifically to install and uninstall profiles, then
that would be a second way do it.
I think making it easier for users to put things in the correct
location would be nice - along the lines of how OS 9 would let you drop
ICC profiles on the system folder and it would offer to stick them in
the correct place. OS X's Finder still does this but only for the OS 9
system folder.
Wouldn't it be a bit confusing to
have two ways of doing the same thing?
Sometimes it is:
/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
and possibly
/Network/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
and each printer driver can have profiles in the PM bundle
There's five ways to do the same thing.
The OS is confusing in a lot of different ways, I think helping the
user through behavior we'd previously been accustomed to would be nice.
Not all users have access to /Library. Not all users know the
difference between the /Library and ~/Library location.
I only mentioned it because OS 9 was friendly and intuitive when it
came to this. OS X isn't. Even Windows has a way to install them that's
easier (oh but it *REALLY* needs to because they go in a location
that's as ridiculous as PPDs do on OS X.)
