Hi folks,
After a long and hard walk I could put my hands in CR (I'm from outside of
US or Canadian :-).
I'm a anxious user because my Minolta 7HI has an excelent and very, I mean
*VERY*, slow raw converter.
So, with blessing of very freindly List bud, I'm in the play now.
After very worry reads of CR in the list I was tested every kind of settings
in both applications.
What I see:
- The default settings of CR give a very pleaseant image but *really*
blowout many highlights,
- In Dimage Viewer Minolta side, the same *default* settings don't.
- After many trys I could find that putting this values:
White Balance: As shot
Exposure - 0.00
Shadows - 9 until 16 (for matching Dimage defaults purposes)
Brightness - 42 (Iden)
Contrast - + 14 (Iden)
Saturation - 0
Sharpness - 25
Smoothness - 25
Moirei filter- Not checked
Space - Adobe RGB (1998) (was used this space in my camera too)
Depth - 16 Bits/channel
Size - 2560 by 1920
I'm not suggesting that are fixed values, but is clear that has lot of room
space.
I could get *almost* identical images. There are no Loss perceived at 200%
magnification at least.
The subject are 2 wet black guys in a Basquet place, over a very strong
12:00 am sun bright.
One of then has white towel (good to find highlights loss)
I''m not sure if the other cameras have more or less problems with raw, but
comparing my shoots with Nikon/Sony/Canon equivalents, I find that Minolta
overall Image quality is superior in many aspects.
This images at everyone offlist disposal.
BTW, I'm not smoking lately. I would, Andrey? <g>
Hope this help,
