Version 3.0 Released January 1, 2003. Now covers LCD profiling.
Thanks for posting this update.
A lot of work go into these fine writings.
One thing I'd really like to point out though is the validity of the above
assessment of monitor calibration is a by the numbers approach which
involves no critical user assessment. Indeed the colours reproduced are of
concern ,yet graduation of tone can almost outweigh these factors in lieu of
tonal graduation. There are many ways of quickly verifying the ramps
produced by soft/hardware calibrating. The easiest one is of course a 0-255
K (rgb=) graduation across a full screen.
Without a good graduation and neutral grey all other colour accuracy
comparisons are isolated and random checkpoints that in no way validate a
profiler combinations quality. If there is a way of qualifying levels after
lut's and or curves in the case of 3D profiles , it'd be a welcome
inclusion.
Happy New Year to all.
