Check File > File Info... and then change the dialog menu to EXIF and see
for yourself is EXIF data is coming accross. sRGB is the only supported
color space under EXIF. And yes, Photoshop will assume sRGB if there's
EXIF data and no profile - this is a good thing! Think of all the
digital camera users who will now use proper color management.
Anyway, it's nothing to get upset about. Just choose in the dialog to
ignore the profile. Or once open, you can always go to Image > Mode >
Assign Profile... and set it to to untagged again.
