As long as you don't use fingerprints for the space to be simulated and use ICC device profiles combined with linearizations into fingerprints for the inkjet, then complexities don't arise. First you linearize the inks using the linearization tools the same as in other RIPs, then you combine the linearization with the ICC device profile made for the inkjet. Version 1.10.1 has more user friendly linearization than version 1.10 and jobs are rasterized really fast. But I'm puzzled by the default spectral engine and when to leverage it, that's true. By the way as far as I recall the RIP uses GhostScript which has native PDF processing out of the box. We need fast RIPs with ink linearization support on Mac OSX which is not to say we don't need RIPs to be as user friendly as possible.
