Your observations and deductions are correct... the 2000p/5500/7500/9500 inks
are not suited to fine art and serious photography work to the the
uncontrollable color shifting with different light sources.

You paid a higher price for a slower machine with lower photo quality than if
you had simply bought a 1280. But yes, you can use those inks in it. The
problem is that the 2000p is a "chipped" cartridge machine. Without the
special computer chip on the back of the cart, it can't be used in the 2000p.
Once empty, it can't be used again. This is for your protection and
convenience. If you don't find it protective and convenient there are various
third party carts and bulk ink systems that circumvent this in varying ways,
but there are fewer for the 2000p than for the 1280, for the speed, quality,
and price reasons noted above.

Actually these inks tend to "balance" down around 3000k... but whether they
look good in a given light depends on how they are profiled and adjusted. I'd
suggest admitting defeat and moving up to the new 2200 which is vastly
improved in all these areas.

Depends on the light source of the spectro, among other factors.

Is the output from the 2100/2200 affected by lighting as much as the 2000p?
Not nearly as much, more in line with the variation in the 1280/1290 inks.
