The Doc12's have been great for us and it's all I'm recommending now to our

Sid,
Like you, we use a Fiery RIP (XP12) to print to our Xerox Doc12, but without the option
of selecting "none" as an output profile at either the driver level or in Profile Manager
in Fiery's ColorWise Tools, Ive not yet found a way to dumb-down the RIP to allow CM
targets to be printed through it. Oddly, none is available at the driver level as an
input profile (RGB Source), but not as an output profile.
The Fiery does allow for calibration by external deviceswell, device, actuallyas only
X-Rites DTP 32 densitometer is supported. Since our DTP 41 and Gretag Eye-One
spectrophotometers are not supported, only the off the glass AutoCal function in
Fierys ColorWise Pro Tools remains available to us as a means of calibration.
Which model Fiery RIP do you have, and how did you manage to disable its color management
in order to print ProfileCity's target files?
BTW, The frosting on the EFI cake for me was when I made the first call in over a year
and a half under our service contract to inquire of Fiery how one installs their Spooler,
Downloader, and ColorWise Tools applets and Scanback on our new OS X Mac. I was told
there is no support for OS X, nor would there be any in the future, and they cheerfully
suggested that I that I might buy a new RIP (so I can continue to do what Ive been doing
with my old $19,500 Fiery).
Having said all this, I should add that Xerox Doc 12 printer is a very robust production
machine that produces excellent color with unparalleled halftone screening, all with very
few service calls, and until recently, I was satisfied with EFIs RIP.
