Here is my some of my experiences dealing with two different
companies. Let me begin by saying that I have completed my transition
to OSX and have almost all old hardware running on updated software.I
will begin with ICS. I tried to contact ICS to find out about updates
to the ICS basic monitor software. Three emails no answers. Finally
called their tech support and there was no one to answer the phone so I
left a message. I got a call back late that day and was faced with a
new problem. I should have gotten an email (I did not) informing me
how I could update. I could contact my dealer, but I purchased online.
So now I would need to prove that I had purchased it perhaps I saved
the conformation email from 18 months ago (cannot find it). Maybe I
can find a credit card receipt. Since there no longer appears to be a
record of me anywhere, could I even install it on an outdated 0S 9.2
machine? So I have a very good piece of software I paid for that I can
neither update or possibly install.
Next is Colorvision, I also have monitor profiling software from them.
It too does a very good job. So I need an update for OSX its free, I
go to there website and download it, no problem. I have a serial
number for the software so no need to prove who I am. I email tech
support they email me back. I call tech support there is someone to
answer the phone. I have a problem with my puck after 18 months of
usage, they're sending me one that works. I like a company that works
hard to make it easy for me to use their product. The whole upgrading
process took all of ten minutes.
So I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has experienced the
same or similar problems with ICS. I feel that this is all caused by
the match phrase system. What if anything did any of you do to correct
it? Finally I know many people read this list to decide on a software
purchase. Consider the companies support as well as there product
before you decide.
