We recently purchased an Imacon 848 scanner to do our own inhouse scanning.
It seems like our scans off the Imacon are not as sharp as scans we were use
to getting from a scanning house using scitex scanners. I redid the focus
calibration, that doesn't seem to be the problem. Does anyone else notice
blurry scans using the Imacon? We mainly are using 4x5's and yes I am
viewing at 100%.
Maybe it is a photoshop sharpening thing. Maybe that house nailed down
their sharpening settings for their scanner. Every image should be
sharpened differently depending on pixel content, resolution, size etc. but
what general settings do you all use to sharpen, lets say a 16x20 at 300ppi
to get a sharp looking image on screen? Let us not worry about double
sharpening for the printing process yet.
Any ideas welcome???
