In defense of BEST's implementation of GhostScript, I can tell you that

RIP will practically take anything you can throw at it. In fact, in my
experience, I can say that I never had a single PostScript error in all the
documents I've printed with it, be it Photohop, Illustrator or InDesign
(sorry I don't do Quark).<
Roger, I am not picking of BEST, I just didn't want to get into a
PS3/GhostScript debate so i 'illminated' it up front; from my creteria.

I can tell you that the quality of linearization is a critical factor in
determining the success or failure of any profiling, IMHO. BEST's
linearization is certainly one of the better ones among all RIPs in the
market today. But, in all fairness, I've heard good things about the
ColorBurt and the Cyclone RIP. I just never had the chances to try those
first hand<
BINGO!!!!!!!
Since I have had the 9600, ALL I have done is try to evaluate RIPS for
their linearization routines. My preferences is those that have good ink
limiting and overall those that 'acknowledge' LcLm and Lk.
I gave up on Flexisign 7.2; could not get the rips density to work with
monaco profile. Do you create the density curve with CMYK or CMYKLcLm? Now
that I think about it, I was suppose to print the patches with the Den.
curve loaded. I think THAT'S why my testprint continued to come out very,
very light. You think?
I am looking forward to ErgoSoft's PosterPrint 10.0.2 -- but can't seem to
find any users with first hand experience with this package.
Linearization and Ink Limiting is MY answer to the original question. But I
wanted a sense of what others views are.
