Comparisons or advice would be quite helpful.

Dear Jim:
I have some experience on this matter that may be usefull for you.
I have experienced calibration and support on Vutek 3360 and HP 5000 as well
as Digital Cromalin from Dupont. I use and know a lot about Best Rip,
Harlequin, ColorBurst and ProofMaster. Which is your best choice? Well, lets
analyse the solition for a wider point of view. When we think about a
software solution we always have to think about three main subjects:
Hardware/OS, Support and Budget. I do not know anythnig about you, your
company and your main goal but I realize that you are a not-so-experienced
user whishing to buy the chippier solution available that will avoid future
headakes. If this is your case I would hard advice you to avoid Wintel
solutions on the first hand. Buy a solution that run on a XServe Mac or on
some old Mac running Mac OS X Server on your company. It is the best
Hardware/OS combination on the market for the money you will pay for it.
What is the best software solution for Mac OS X? It depends. If you have
money for it, buy one Harlequin Eclipse from Xitron or Rampage which is
twice faster than any equivalent Wintel Rip. If you don't, buy ProofMaster
which is also excelent and even easier to use. And do not forget that one
professional ColorManagent solution is very important if you which to take
the very potential on your Epson. I advice you to buy Monaco ProfileMaker
and one EyeOne or Spectrolino spectrophotometer from Gretag.
Best regards and good luck.
