All excellent stuff; but an X Server, a production grade RIP, and high end
color management software and hardware are going to cost dozens of times as much
as some of the solutions the original poster was considering (like a copy of
the low cost PowerRIP). I don't necessarily think that PowerRIP would suit his
needs; but I also do not assume that your list would fit his budget... he may
need some help finding the right solution in between.
