The basICColor solution is probably a good one, at least quality wise.
LaCie have the BlueEyeX and Os9 package that does a nice job with the older
Sequel 4 and the new BlueEye (Sequel OEM). The interface is as easy as one
could make, fully automated in control and validation. The feedback from the
DDC makes this possible. Of course this all lies outside of video card
problems as you could expect.
From what I can see and have seen , when DDC is possible , it is a much
finer and easy to use solution.
I had some problems with basICColor Display & DDC cable in set up and
application quits.
The LaCie BlueEye makes very good calibrations and profiles. It comes with
the cable, colorimeter, application for both Mac and PC. You could check
with LaCie if they sell just the DDC cable (called enable cable at LaCie).
