This may be a little off topic, and if so I apologize, but if anyone
knows the answer, it can be found here I'm sure! I'm looking for
software to verify digital proof output (primarily Polaproofs, but
occasionally well-dried ink jets) that is not tied to any specific RIP.
I think there was some software called Proof Check 5 to 8 years ago
that did this, but I can't track it down.
I'm hoping that there's software available that will read solid
densities, overprints and dot-gain at 20, 50 and 80 percent. Using an
Eye1 in strip mode would be the ideal input method. It would then
compare these values to the selected acceptable values (e.g., the SWOP
spec, etc.). As long as a proof didn't deviate out of the allowable
range, it would print a report, and ideally work with a label printer
that could be conveniently stuck to the back of the proof. I would also
hope it would track this data over time to show statistical proofing
drift.
Any help and response will be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Ryan Thrash
