Greetings !
I would like to add my comments to a few former posts.
There are no issues or problems with measurement devices including UV Cut
filter and ProfileMaker Pro. It is a question of philosophy whether to work
with or without UV Cut filters. I personally do not like to exclude UV gamma
when I am going to view the proof under a lightsource or an environment
including UV gamma for obvious reasons. An ICC profile that does not know
anything about UV gamma and optical brighteners (because it has been filtered
out) cannot calculate with it and in that way can`t help with the effects of
optical brighteners... So from my point of view the software correction, as it
is offered in ProfileMaker, is the way to go.
Anyway - ProfileMaker supports both UV Cut and non-UV Cut measurement
instruments without any restriction. It`s your choice.
According to ambient light measurements: GretagMacbeth will release a new
version of i1Share very soon. This version will allow to take light
measurements with the EyeOne (incl. ambient lighthead), you can view them as a
spectrum and see both the color temperature and a color rendering index that
will help you to compare the measured lightsource to a standard lightsource.
These measured lightsources can then be saved (for example as CxF) and
imported in ProfileMaker Pro 4.1.5 which will be released very soon, too so
that you can calculate your own lightsources into your own ICC profiles.
I1Share will be freeware as always and ProfileMaker Pro 4.1.5 is a (again) a
free update for those already owning ProfileMaker 4.x.
According to the measurement of optical brighteners: Optical brighteners
usually have a maximum emission in a spectrum around 435nm and this can be
measured very well with all kinds of GretagMacbeth measurement instruments.
Best regards,
Roland Campa

Three questions:

1. Should I have the UV filter removed?

2. Can the end user remove it?

3. Are there similar issues with Monaco Profiler?

I hope this next question doesn't open a can of worms, but for the

ProfileMaker or is the extra expense mostly for the D-Cam feature?
