When you tell profiling software that it has control over the K channel it

The only thing we can do is revert to RGB (CMY) control over the printer and let
the black float as it will.... that and kick RIP vendors's butts whenever we see
them at trade shows for not supporting ICC workflows.

As far as I am concerned supporting an ICC workflow means allowing the user to
turn off all color management for target printing. NOT just allowing ICC
simulation profiles to be downloaded. This rules out some RIPs made/sold by
EFI/Fiery, Epson, Xerox/Tektronix and others...
OK, but if I have an old Fiery Z4 RIP and I keep the output profile the same
at all times (since I can't select "none") and make a custom profile with
that setting and then download that new profile and select it as a CMYK
simulation will my prints be RESONABLY accurate (at least until the printer
environment changes, toner and developer...)? I know it's just a workaround
but if you have no other alternative would this work?
