AbsCol Metamerism

Why does absolute colorimetric9 paper color rendering look different at a
perpendicular angle to the eye vs. a 45 degree angle? When we view proofs
under the Just Normlicht Color Control Station at 45 degrees, the simulated
press paper color renders similar. When we view them at 90 degrees they tend
to appear too yellow. Is it something more than metamerism or not metamerism
at all?
