Photoshop takes care of all color space and device profile compensation,
so you really shouldn't get any complaints.

I don't know why anyone would suggest calibrating your monitor for 2.2
when your current color space workflow is working for you. Afterall, sRGB
and AdobeRGB are both gamma=2.2 color spaces. (I.E., many should suggest
monitor=2.2 for either sRGB or AdobeRGB)
However ... two comments. Keep in mind you are asking a lot when you
calibrate your monitor for 1.8, and then ask PS to compensate to 2.2. Your
monitor's factory gamma is most likely closer to 2.2-2.5, so you primarily
ask your monitor calibration software to calculate a 2.4=>1.8 CLUT, and
secondarily ask PS to compensate with a 1.8=>2.2 CLUT ... all with 8bit
precision. Depending on your calibration software and the linearity of the
factory gamma, you ask a lot of the resulting compensation, but it still
should work.
