sRGB to Adobe RGB and Apple monitor

  • Subject: sRGB to Adobe RGB and Apple monitor

I have consistently (hardware) calibrated my Mac to 1.8 gamma and I use Adobe RGB as my working space. My workflow from scans to inkjet proofs, final prints, and delivery of files to my mostly Mac user clients has, up to now, worked well. No one has has ever complained. Nor have I had problems when shooting with D series Nikons in Adobe RGB.

Next week I will be using a digital camera for a few days that only produces sRGB files. It has been suggested to me that I re-calibrate my monitor for 2.2 gamma and convert the images to Abode RGB. I thought about leaving well enough alone and keeping my usual colorsync workflow: 1.8 gamma and Adobe RGB. Or am I making this more complicated than it is?

Any suggestions or warnings?

Thanks in advance,

Peter A. Calvin
