I have at least a dozen dye and pigment Epsons in the my own office at the
moment (fortunately not all are wide format of I wouldn't be able to reach
the door) and I've profiled countless others. There is that one
full-press-yellow area that none of the inkjet inks quite reach, by varying
degress. This also varies with the paper in question. I use ColorVision
ProfilerPRO for most of my RGB and CMYK profiles, but find that Monaco
Profiler also has an easier time with the dyes, though the UltraChromes are a
big improvement.

You can switch the UltraChrome matte and photo blacks at will (at a cost of
about a hundred bucks worth of lost ink, and shortened time to necessary
service), but you can't swap from dye to UltraChrome once the machine has
been primed... at least thats the company line.

Do this testing before buying and configuring your own machine. Or with the
7600/9600 printers, work on the by-the-pair system. They are cheap, and
relatively disposable. Get one and try with the ink you think you like, and
if its not ideal for everything, get another and load the other inkset,
otherwise you can add a second with the same inks. A printer down is less
of a crisis if you have more than one.
