Profilemaker display profiling

Hi group,
in profilemaker there is the option to save a custom
colortemperature with the display profile.

How should this feature be used? Is it meant for chosing the temperature
that was selected for display profiling ?

Or is it really an enhancement for the icc specs and offers the adaptation
to a different lightsouce. If yes .. why would one do this ?

As I understand all whitepoint no matter which is chosen (also 6500K)
is transformed to D50 when saved in the profile wich is according to the
icc specs.

Regards,
Daniel Lowicki
