Guys,
I've just set up iQueue 1.1 with a client, and everything runs pretty
smoothly, except for a few issues.
IQueue is front end to a Xerox DC 12 with a Splash RIP, and is installed on
the same machine (a 400mhz G4) running 9.2.2, computer is supplied by
Splash. IQueue has 250mb ram assigned, and there is 19 GB free disk space on
the machine.
The host machines used for printing is running 9.2, 9.2.1 and 9.2.2. The
desktop printer for both Splash directly and iQueue is generated with Adobe
PS 8.7.3(301dk).
The basic queue used on the color server is set up to simulate RGB and CMYK
to a standard Euroscale v2 profile, and convert to the DC12 profile.
There are two problems:
1) if you print a medium large job (75mb) from an 9.2.2 host machine to a
iQueue spool queue, the total print time from you hit cmd+P until the job is
printed is 17 min. iQueue uses 6 minutes to rip/color manage the job it
takes abo7ut a minute to print, but the spooling (in the desktop printer on
the host machine) is about 7-8 minutes!
In comparison, if you print the same job directly to the Splash server (no
iQueue) the entire process from yo9u hit cmd+ P until the print is done is
4.3 minutes.
It's only fair that iQueue need time to process, but the difference in
workstation spool time is about 7 minutes, so I'm looking for an idea to cut
this down.
2). If you set up the same queue to use greyscale profiles (cmyk profiles
converted to greyscale in Profile Maker 4.1.1- editor module) for greyscale
vector and bitmap images, you can't print anything through the queue. The
job is flushed and deliver an error "-171" in the log file.
Anyone?
