Alan, it's explained in Ilford's press release. I think you'll like the
price. It's my understanding that Ilford will distribute a CD containing
the drivers with packs of media. So in effect they will be free with a
pack of paper.
That's one of the things that really gets me stoked about the idea of
these solutions appearing. It seems they will be at a democratically low
price point. This is not to say Postscripts RIPs are undemocratic, there
are many reasons for using one. But for those people (photographers,
designers, etc.) who either can't afford a RIP or don't want the
complexity, these solutions are going to be great. A great match to the
low cost monitor calibration and characterisation bundles that are
available now, like GretagMacbeth's Eye-One Display.
