Which was a big factor when it comes to any target. I had a very interesting
conversation with Steven Johnson about camera profiling last week in NY and
his take was that all the targets have sever limitations I suspect for the
reasons you just mentioned. Steven feels that the only way to really produce
a good profile is to get the spectral data from the scene and have some
really good ideas about the way the individual chips respond (at least
that's what I think I understood about his point).
In any case, camera profiling is still hit or miss and not something for the
faint or heart. There are places for it and it can work. For the kinds of
cameras that ACR supports, it's really a simpler and more elegant solution.
