Be nice if a camera profile insured this but it will not. It might get you
close, it might not. The lighting conditions will play a role and unless you
can measure that, I'm not sure you can depend on the profile doing much to
help. I know that when shooting art work in the studio with controlled
conditions, there are colors that can go wacky even with the best profile.
At some point, you might just have to edit the image. This isn't to say good
profiles can't help but they are not an absolute guarantee either.

True although I've been bit far too often going the extra mile only to find
I ended up in worse shape than I began with. Profile tuning can be a similar
exercise in frustration.
I'm hoping camera profiling gets easier, and more consistent as far as
getting good results. I've seen some custom profiles do amazing jobs and
then produce awful results using the same software and target so unless the
phase of the moon is key, I can't figure out why it's as iffy as it is. I
suspect a lot has to do with the complexity of digital cameras. With RAW
files, the RAW converter has to play a role as well.
I'm wondering about all the people using DSLR's that don't (or can't) shoot
RAW and instead ask for "sRGB" or "Adobe RGB" and if a simple editor could
tweak one of those RGB Working Spaces closer to where we want to go. I've
done this using Photoshop's controls within the Custom settings and
sometimes, even a slight gamma tweak and work wonders. The assignment of the
profile doesn't alter the actual numbers so no damage is done.

Have either you or Bruce built a profile with ColorEyes 20/20?
Only with the former product while it was at Profile City. Yes it was a very
good product and produced some of the best results I saw at the time.
