Of course, but two profiles provide more information than one,
and if there is a continuum between the two points (say, connected
by the color temperature), then a whole dimension has been added
to the characterization.

Because the spectral reflectance of the test chart/scene is unknown, and
the spectral sensitivity of the camera is unknown.
