Without addressing your moire issues directly, I wish to respectfully
point out that LED (light emitting diode) generally refers to a
device emitting light spontaneously and incoherently. By contrast,
laser light results from stimulated and coherent emission. Hence "LED
laser" is an oxymoron; the proper name is a semiconductor (or
sometimes, diode) laser.
Whether one is superior to the other is application-specific and also
depends on the engineers involved. Here it just sounds like some
marketing types found some words to play with (their toys du jour).
If they could at least use the terminology correctly...
