And I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion, Michael. I find
that there is a limit to hiding "complexity" from the user (the black box
approach): correlated color temperature should be displayed right alongside
luminance in iMatch and PMP 4.1.5 (and any monitor profiling software for
that matter) when calibrating monitors -- CRTs or LCDs. There is no excuse
as the instrument is feeding this information in to the software everytime.
It is just that the manufacturer is hiding it from the user in the sake of,
what, "simplicity"? I think most users need to be educated on color and
colorimetry if they're the slightest bit serious about matching colors and
thir monitors is the perfect place to start learning from. But no! Not with
GretagMacbeth, they want to hide "complexity" for not scaring people. What's
wrong with learning?
