Michael,
Thanks for your comments, but I've got the latest version of Optical, and
Colorvision have replaced my Spyder recently to see if that improved
things - it did a shade better.
I've talked to David Tobie about this and he said that the Formac Gallery
20" is pushing the limits of what can be done with a Spyder. Some can be
profiled, and some can't, it seems.
I'm getting quite used to doing the non-color corrections on the Formac and
just using the Artisan for the critical color corrections. Should make the
Artisan last longer, and by the time I've worn out the Formac, LCDs will
have improved even further - I hope.
Although very expensive, buying the Sony Artisan solved one of the perennial
problems. My first one didn't work properly, but instead of having to work
out whether it was the monitor, the software, or the calibrator that was
faulty (which is the problem with the Formac/Optical/Spyder combo), I just
sent the lot back to Sony - it's all theirs, so it doesn't matter which bit
doesn't work! The replacement was fine.
Bob Frost.
