I'd be interested in hearing if you find one that works. From what I read, those converters only support one SCSI device at a time, not a chain (when they work!)

Nevertheless, I think it's a pity that the OSX engineers dropped the SCSI
support. Am I alone in this?

OSX (Apple) didn't drop SCSI at all (I use it happily), it's the scanner manufacturers who haven't released OSX (or even Classic) software to control their (older) scanners. That's why a Swiss-army-knife approach (namely VueScan) turned out to be my solution (though I see it doesn't support your scanner...)
