One similar situation that got me was the subsequent conversion of previously sharpened images. Sharpening will enhance the shadow values and minimize the highlight values in high contrast areas. This is done with no regard for TIL. After converting, it is these single-pixel values/areas that will be restricted to max printing, thus making the larger shadow areas less than max.

Hello Gariba,
Another thing to check is the black rebate area around your scanned image.
Profiles do not know the difference between image black and rebate black.
It might be necessary to close crop your images before converting.
