profiling with OptiCAL

  • Subject: profiling with OptiCAL

Hi,

I'm having some problems calibrating/profiling a LaCIe 19 ElectronBlue IV with ColorVision's PreCAL and OptiCAL, using a Spyder device. The resulting profile seems to make the images look a bit dark, with a *slight* brownish (reddish?) color cast. Using a PDI/PhotoDisc image for visual reference, the Kodak and Macbeth color charts show this distinctly on the gray areas.
The monitor is less than 1 year old, and the luminance reading after calibration with PreCAL lies around 98 cd/m2. We're calibrating to a 6500K white point, gamma 2.2, and profiling using the "standard" mode in OptiCAL, with white point set to "native".

We've tried the same measuring device/software setup on our 15" G4 Powerbook LCD display, and the images look just fine there, with very neutral grays.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this?

Thanks in advance,

Paulo
