I'm looking for recommendations on the most stable inks for inkjet
proofing. We're a book and magazine publisher using the Canon W2200
printers for our contract proofing. We front end them with the Best DE RIP
and use Best 9150 Semi-matte paper and Canon's ink. We have GTI D5000
viewing booths for viewing color. Except for brief color viewing periods,
the proofs are stored in packages which block all room light. What we're
experiencing is a shift in proof color after a period of approximately 48
hours. I would characterize it generally as a gain in yellow, evident in
some images more than others, and big enough to feel that the color editing
would have been different if the proof looked like that from the beginning.
The problem of course is that color reviews have to happen before the
proofs have stabilized. Most color editing decisions are made within an
hour or so of the proof being generated. Prior to using the Canon W2200 we
used the Canon 8500s and found the inks much more stable with no obvious
shift. Are there any inks out there that stabilize quickly and don't
change drastically in different viewing conditions?
