Carl, given your comments about your level of colour knowledge and your
printer I have one suggestion if your needs are straight forward. If you
have not done so already, you might consider asking one of the remote
profiling services, such as Chromix, to create you a RGB profile for
your Epson driver. It may get you where you want to be without the
expense and potential complexity of a PS RIP. That said, of course there
are many good reasons for paying the additional cost of a RIP if you
need the extra features it provides.
