There's a major error in that piece. They fail to tell you to Assign the
display profile to the document you're testing!!! You gota do that.

The Artisan will measure and set the native gamma when you make a custom
setting (advanced should be on in preference). Instead of setting a gamma
value type --- (three minus signs). That tells the software to set to the
native gamma (which might be 2.2, 2.3 or anywhere in the neighborhood). This
is an undocumented feature. While you're in that dialog, set the contrast
ratio to 500:1 if you want that ratio. Save the name as a custom setting and
calibrate.

Native is MUCH better (or if you can't set it like this, 2.2 way better then
1.8). Contrast ratio should be set based upon the output you're soft
proofing. There's no "right" ratio. What's cool about the Artisan software
is you can setup as many of these settings as you like and toggle on the fly
based on the type of work.
