But most of the time the marks need to be 100c100m100y100k, or at least it's preferable. If you need the marks to register a proof, for example, and you can't or didn't generate marks from your film imager (eg. the output is too large or, uhhhh, you forgot), then the guy that has to make the proof is going to give you dirty looks.

But Cedric et al., thanks for all the info on the Quark "As Is" and "Device N" settings. It's really helpful.
